C21 Online, a programme of Boston College School of Theology and Ministry, offers online courses for adult spiritual enrichment and faith formation. With a focus on shared reflection in an online learning community, C21 Online models the kind of conversation and participation that lead to deeper understanding of and personal growth in faith.  The Office of Pastoral Renewal and Family Ministry, working in conjunction with C21 Online is able to make the regular short courses available at reduced rates.

All C21 Online courses include these features:
-  Participants have access 24 hours/7 days a week to the course's password protected web site.
-  Each participant belongs to a small community for conversation and faith sharing guided by a facilitator.
-  Site is open to participants at least one week before and one week after the course.
-  An orientation in how to navigate the web site is always available.
-  Technical assistance is easy to contact and prompt in returning a message.

Time Commitment
A participant can expect to spend an average of 2-3 hours each week. This commitment includes both the assigned viewing and interaction online.

Is Online Learning for Me?
Online learning is a new experience for many of our participants. How will you know if C21 online learning is for you? For each of the statements below, indicate as honestly as possible if it is true or false for you.

-  I have ready access to a computer and to the Internet.
-  I am comfortable writing email and using the Internet.
-  I enjoy being part of a discussion board or listserv.
-  I don't mind asking for assistance when I need help.
-  I would like to discuss faith matters with people from all over the English-speaking world.
-  I would enjoy being able to participate in a course according to my own schedule instead of needing to arrive in a classroom at a certain time.
-  I would enjoy not having to commute to participate in a learning experience.
I like to learn through dialogue and interaction.
-  I am self-motivated when it comes to following through on a project.
-  I am comfortable with trying out new ways to learn.
-  I am patient with myself when I try something new.
-  Dialogue does not have to include face–to-face contact for me to learn.
-  I would find it relaxing and interesting to come online and read messages from participants in different parts of the country and the world.
-  I would like to receive feedback to my reflections from an experienced facilitator and from my peers.
-  I value being a part of a discussion group or learning community.

How many statements above did you find true for yourself? Although there is no pat answer to the question "Is this online learning experience for me?" the more statements you answered true, the more you are likely to enjoy an online learning experience.
