Welcome to the website of the Office of Pastoral Renewal and Family Ministry in the Archdiocese of Armagh.
Soil for the Seed: Exploring our Faith as Adults begins again in Drogheda Community Services Centre, Scarlett St, Drogheda. There is an introductory evening on Monday 6 September beginning at 7.30pm. The first module begins on Monday 13 September reflecting on ministry in parish and family. All are welcome. More information here.
The end of summer usually brings diocesan changes and this year the changes are affecting the Office of Pastoral Renewal and Family Ministry. Fr Andrew McNally has left the Office and taken up the role of administrator (effectively parish priest as the named parish priest is Cardinal Brady) in St Patrick's parish in Dundalk. Andy was the first director of the Office and carried out the role of seven years. We thank him for all the gifts he brought to the role and wish him well in his new ministry. He is pictured here with the last administrator, Fr Gerry Campbell on his last day in the parish.
Learning about the development of pastoral areas in New Zealand was a very fruitful experience that we had in the summer. You can read all about it by clicking here. You may hear more of our reflections in time.
The new Diocesan Pastoral Council will initially have eight commissions. They are:
- Care for priests
- Christian formation
- Faith formation and training
- Justice, peace and development
- Liturgy
- Mission and ecumenism
- Prayer and spirituality
- Youth
According to our poll faith formation and training is the area that interests you most. If you haven't already voted you can do so on the right hand panel.
You can read Amy's recent ambling here and the August Parish Renewal Newsletter here.
Br Sofield's address (in four parts) to parish pastoral councils is available on the Armagh Archdiocese YouTube site. More Loughlin Sofield videos on the work and role of parish pastoral councils are available here. A review of Loughlan and Carroll's recent book, Facing Forgiveness, can be found here.
